Microfinance and co-operative software for Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka

Microfinance in Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka grew on the same model as Indian microfinance: women's groups, weekly centre meetings, small loans repaid in equal instalments and savings collected at the same meeting. That is the workflow Byaj Batta already runs for Indian MFIs every day — the groups, the centre collection sheet, the loan officer's route and the PAR report — so the fit is closer here than anywhere else outside India.

Who we work with in Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka

Microfinance institutions

Laghubitta (microfinance) institutions in Nepal, MRA-licensed NGO-MFIs in Bangladesh and licensed microfinance companies in Sri Lanka.

Savings and credit co-operatives

Co-operatives that take member savings and lend them out, and need shares, deposits and loans to reconcile.

NGO and development lenders

Programmes that lend through groups and report outreach, repayment and portfolio quality to donors and boards.

How it fits the way you lend

Groups, centres and meeting days

Members are organised into groups with a leader and a meeting day; loans can be disbursed to a group and collected member by member at the meeting.

The centre collection sheet

Each loan officer gets the day's sheet for each centre — who is due, how much, and who is behind — on paper or on the Android app, and what is collected updates the loan as it is entered.

Group training and approval steps

Pre-disbursement steps such as compulsory group training and group recognition tests can be recorded as stages of the loan workflow, as Indian MFIs do today.

Savings alongside loans

Members' savings and recurring deposits sit on the same record as their loans, so savings collected at the meeting and loan instalments are recorded together.

Portfolio at risk by centre, officer and branch

PAR and days-past-due ageing from live balances, so a slipping centre is seen in the first week rather than at month-end.

Connected during onboarding

None of these is live out of the box outside India. We work with you to connect your local payment, KYC and credit bureau providers, and scope each one before you sign.

  • →Mobile wallets and bank channels for repayments and disbursements (for example bKash or Nagad in Bangladesh, eSewa or Khalti in Nepal), connected with your provider
  • →Identity checks against national ID, through the verification provider you choose
  • →Your credit information bureau, for enquiries and data submission
  • →SMS reminders through a local gateway
  • →The returns you file with Nepal Rastra Bank, the Microcredit Regulatory Authority or the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, built from data already in the system

Your currency, your pricing

Nepalese rupee (NPR), Bangladeshi taka (BDT) and Sri Lankan rupee (LKR) are all already in the currency list.

Pricing is per active loan, quoted in NPR, BDT or LKR. Onboarding, migration and provider connections are scoped and quoted before you commit.

Hosted in the cloud and run by us; data hosted in-region on request.

Frequently asked

Does it support weekly group lending with centre meetings?

Yes. Groups have members, a leader and a meeting day; loans are repaid weekly (or at any other frequency you set), and the loan officer works from a collection sheet per centre. This is the same group-lending workflow Indian MFIs run on Byaj Batta.

Can savings be collected at the same meeting as loan instalments?

Yes. Members' savings and recurring deposits are held on the same record as their loans, so both can be recorded during the meeting.

Does it work in the Bikram Sambat calendar or in Nepali, Bangla or Sinhala?

Not today. Dates are Gregorian and staff screens are in English. If your reports must show BS dates or your officers need another language, raise it in the demo and we will tell you plainly what is possible.

Can it produce our regulator returns?

Not out of the box. Portfolio, PAR, savings and ledger data for those returns is all in the system; the exact Nepal Rastra Bank, MRA or CBSL formats are scoped with you during onboarding.

Which mobile wallets can borrowers repay with?

None is connected out of the box outside India. Repayments by wallet or bank transfer are recorded with their reference today, and we work with you to connect your wallet or bank provider during onboarding.
